Spring Arts Tower Gallery Opening 4/8

A few weeks ago I participated in a group show in LA with 4 other artists including my boyfriend, Jesse Chapo. We had a great turnout, thanks to everyone who came! I showed a few paintings as well as my muffins, which seemed to be everyone's favorite photo spot. Everyone seemed to want a photo of themselves pretending to bite the muffin. I wish I had more time and studio space to make soft sculptures. I love how inviting they are to the audience to just be playful.

Strange Wonder #3: Unicorns are REAL...kinda

This one-horned deer was spotted in a nature reserve near Florence, Italy. Scientists claim it to be a genetic anomaly, similar to other cases that have spawned the unicorn mythology. In medieval lore, the unicorn could only be tamed by a virgin by laying its head upon her lap. Its horn was said to neutralize poison. The unicorn is often used in Catholic writing as a symbol of Christ. Coincidentally, a gathering of unicorns is called a "blessing."

Strange Wonder #2: Giraffes are Insomniacs

Giraffes only sleep 10 minutes to 2 hours in a 24 hour period. Sleeping for giraffes is dangerous and a bit awkward. Most of the time is spent standing but it must lay down when dreaming (about 20 minutes.) Its take a giraffe over a minute to stand up which makes it vulnerable if attacked.
There is no set human time for needed sleep but on average, humans sleep 7.75 hours a day.
The current world record for the longest period without sleep is 11 days, set by Randy Gardner in 1965. Four days into the research, he began hallucinating. This was followed by a delusion where he thought he was a famous football player. Surprisingly, Randy was actually functioning quite well at the end of his research and he could still beat the scientist at pinball.
